Foredrag og samtale i Bergen: Oppreisning! Slaveri og den atlantiske slavehandelen I anledning Black History Month Norway inviterer BHMN, i samarbeid med Winter of Soul, til et foredrag og en samtale med historiker Ana Lucia Araujo, forfatter av Reparations for Slavery and the Slave Trade (2023). Med utgangspunkt i boken utforsker Araujo kravene om oppreisning etter slaveriet og den atlantiske slavehandelen. Hun følger kampen for rettferdighet fra 1700-tallet og frem til i dag, gjennom underskriftskampanjer, brev, taler, slavefortellinger og rettslige krav. Etter foredraget blir det en samtale med aktivist, skribent og jusstudent Anine Fatou Bräten.

Lecture and discussion in Bergen: Reparations! Slavery and the Atlantic Slave Trade. To mark Black History Month Norway, BHMN—in collaboration with Winter of Soul—invites you to a lecture and discussion with historian Ana Lucia Araujo, author of Reparations for Slavery and the Slave Trade (2023). Drawing on her book, Araujo explores demands for reparations following slavery and the Atlantic slave trade. She traces the fight for justice from the 18th century to the present day, examining petitions, letters, speeches, slave narratives, and legal claims. The lecture will be followed by a conversation with activist, writer, and law student Anine Fatou Bräten.
