The Winter of Soul festival is a celebration of the rich, diverse heritage of Black culture. Through a range of artistic performances, exhibitions, workshops, and seminars, we aim to educate, inspire, and empower individuals from the community!

Balansekunst on Representation & Reparation
Join us for a brilliant workshop together with Balansekunst where we will dive into questions around representation, systemic change and how to shape a cultural landscape that truly has room for everyone.
Children show: Drum Safari with Abu Adonaba
Come sing, dance & play drums with us! Get acquainted with the drum and the beautiful sounds it can produce. Kids are invited to an interactive mini-concert and workshop with rhythm, antiphonal singing, dancing and good vibes.
Les Amazones d'Afrique
Named after the Dahomey Amazons, the all-female warrior regiment from the country today known as Benin, Les Amazons d’Afrique are a an ever-evolving supergroup of bold and groundbreaking female African musicians from Mali and beyond.
Seminar: A short journey into Martinique carnival: Traditions & culture.
Join Myriam Coco, Associate Professor of French Didactics at UiB's Department of Foreign Languages, for a deep dive into the rich historical roots, forms & connections of carnival traditions in her native Martinique. Myriam’s research spans French, Spanish & Creole language teaching & literature.
Fashion Show: Afrocraft x God Win Production
To make the first day of Winter of Soul 2025 an evening to remember, we are having a runway show featuring amazing creations by Dilu Matola (Afrocraft) and Bergen-based tailor and designer God Win Production!
Film : Beasts of the Southern Wild
Directed by Beth Zeitlin, this visually stunning emotionally profound award-winning masterpiece invites us into six-year-old Hushpuppy’s half-mythical corner of the Louisiana bayous.

Launch Party
Winter of Soul invites you all to our launch party at Café Sanaa, 6pm on January 10th! We're bringing a DJ, planteur martiniquais cocktail and a new programme for you to discover. Come as you are, dance and celebrate the second edition of Bergen's very own festival of Black arts and culture!
