In the lecture “Reparations, Restorative Justice and Post-Apartheid South Africa,” Associate Professor Nafeesa Tarajee Nichols (HVL) discusses South African literature with a focus on the themes of resurrection and liberation. Nichols explores how post-1994 literature attempts to represent the realities of the post-apartheid condition. She highlights innovative and radical contributions by young South African writers from the early twenty-first century.

In this lecture, Prof. Ana Lucia Araujo will discuss the era of slavery, emancipation, post-abolition, and the present day and drawing on the voices of various enslaved peoples and their descendants, she illuminates the multiple dimensions of the demands of reparations.
